Neurology
THE SYMPTOMS FROM OUR HEAD OR BRAIN ARE USUALLY DIVIDED INTO PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS SUCH AS HEADACHES, AND EMOTIONAL SYMPTOMS SUCH AS DEPRESSION. THESE PROBLEMS ARE USUALLY LOOKED AFTER BY YOUR GP OR A RESPIRATORY PHYSICIAN.
PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS - NEUROLOGY
Physical problems such as headache, seizures, epilepsy, muscular weakness or unusual sensations are investigated by a Neurologist, under the heading Neurology.
Headache is the most common symptom that affects our head. It is incredibly common and the vast majority of headaches have no underlying, serious cause. We usually know why we have a headache (lack of sleep, tiredness, too much alcohol or drugs, stress); rest, pain relief (aspirin, paracetamol or ibuprofen), fluids and food usually help.
You should seek a medical opinion if your headaches occur: with no obvious cause, with associated complaints such as visual disturbances, fever or neck stiffness, or headaches which are getting worse over time.
